Think of Chetmail as your personal news curator. Instead of opening dozens of tabs or fighting algorithmic feeds, you subscribe to the sources you actually care about and receive a clean, organized digest at a time you choose — one email (or message) per day.
Core Concept
Every piece of content in Chetmail flows through the same pipeline:
1. Source
RSS feed, website, blog, podcast, news site, or social profile.
2. Process
Chetmail fetches, filters, and formats new items since your last digest.
3. Deliver
A single digest arrives in your inbox (or Telegram/WhatsApp) at your chosen time.
4. Forget
Articles are deleted after delivery. Nothing is stored long-term.
Quick Start
Get your first digest in under 5 minutes.
Create your account
Go to /auth, enter your email and a password. You'll receive a verification email — click the link inside to activate your account.
Add your first source
From the dashboard, click Add Source. Paste any URL — a blog, news site, podcast, or direct RSS link. Chetmail will auto-detect the feed. Give it a name and save.
Set your delivery time
Head to Settings → Daily Digest. Choose the time of day you want your digest and your timezone. Pick which channels to send to (email is on by default).
Send a test digest
From the dashboard's digest status card, click Send Test Digest to receive a preview immediately. This is great for verifying your layout and sources are working.
Sit back and read
Every day at your chosen time, a clean digest lands in your inbox. That's it — no apps to open, no algorithms to fight.
Onboarding Guide
When you first log in, a floating checklist appears in the bottom-right corner of the dashboard. It walks you through the five essential setup steps:
| Step | Action | How it's tracked |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Add a source | Add at least one RSS feed or website | Live source count from your account |
| 2. Verify email | Click the link in your welcome email | Server-side emailVerified flag |
| 3. Set delivery time | Configure time + timezone in Settings | Saved in your browser (localStorage) |
| 4. Send test digest | Trigger a preview from the dashboard | Saved in your browser (localStorage) |
| 5. Explore Discover Packs | Browse and add topic bundles | Saved in your browser (localStorage) |
You can collapse the checklist by clicking the arrow, or permanently dismiss it with the × button once all steps are done. It will not reappear after dismissal.
Sources & Feeds
A source is any content stream Chetmail monitors on your behalf. Chetmail supports three types of sources:
RSS / Atom Feeds
Paste any RSS or Atom URL directly, or paste a website URL and Chetmail will auto-detect its feed.
Web Scraping
Pro only. For sites without RSS, Chetmail scrapes the page and extracts new content automatically.
Search Alerts
Pro only. Monitor the web for keywords — like Google Alerts. Results arrive in your daily digest.
Adding a Source
Go to Find Sources
Click Find Sources in the sidebar or use the + Add Source button on the dashboard.
Paste a URL
Works with any blog, news site, podcast, subreddit, or direct RSS link. Chetmail auto-detects the feed — you don't need to find the RSS URL yourself.
Configure and Save
Give it a nickname, optionally add keyword filters, and save. It will appear in your sources list and be included in the next digest.
Source Limits by Plan
| Plan | Max Sources | Web Scraping | Search Alerts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 3 sources | ✗ No | ✗ No |
| Pro Reader | 50 sources | ✓ Yes | ✓ Yes (up to 10) |
Feed Health & Outage Detection
Chetmail monitors every source for health. If a feed fails to load repeatedly, it is flagged as having an outage and you will see a warning on the dashboard. For feeds that consistently return no items, Chetmail suggests switching to web scraping as an alternative.
Daily Digests
A digest is a compiled email (or message) of new content from all your sources since your last delivery. Chetmail sends one digest per day, per scheduled delivery.
How Digests Work
Every day at your configured time, Chetmail:
- Fetches new items from all your active sources.
- Applies any keyword filters you've set.
- Compiles items into a formatted digest.
- Sends to all enabled channels (email, Telegram, WhatsApp).
- Marks items as seen — they won't appear in future digests.
Test Digest
You can send yourself a digest at any time by clicking Send Test Digest on the dashboard. This is useful for:
- Verifying your sources are returning content
- Previewing how the email template looks
- Checking that Telegram/WhatsApp delivery is set up correctly
Digest Settings
| Setting | Where to configure | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery time | Settings → Daily Digest | Hour and minute in your local time |
| Timezone | Settings → Daily Digest | Accounts for DST automatically |
| Email on/off | Settings → Daily Digest | Toggle email delivery |
| Telegram on/off | Settings → Integrations | Requires linking your Telegram account |
| WhatsApp on/off | Settings → Integrations | Requires Twilio number linking |
Delivery Channels
Chetmail can deliver your digest to multiple channels simultaneously. Each channel can be enabled or disabled independently.
The default channel. Richly formatted HTML email with images, links, and optional banner ads (free tier). Requires a verified email address.
Telegram
Receive digests as Telegram messages via the Chetmail Bot. Linked through a one-click authorization link in Settings.
Receive digests on WhatsApp. Requires linking your phone number through the WhatsApp integration in Settings.
Discover Packs
Discover Packs are curated bundles of RSS feeds (and sometimes Search Alerts) organized by topic. Adding a pack instantly subscribes you to all sources in it — no manual feed-hunting required.
Example Packs
AI & LLMs
OpenAI blog, Anthropic updates, Hugging Face, AI news aggregators.
Tech Giants
Engineering blogs from Google, Meta, Netflix, Stripe, and more.
Startup & VC
Y Combinator, TechCrunch, Hacker News, and venture capital blogs.
World News
Reuters, BBC, AP News, and regional news sources.
To add a pack: navigate to Discover in the sidebar and click Add Pack on any topic you want. The feeds will appear in your sources list immediately.
Keyword Filters
Keyword filters let you control exactly what content appears in your digest. You can set filters per source and (on Pro) per Feed Group.
Filter Types
| Type | How it works | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Include keywords | Only show items that contain at least one of these words/phrases | machine learning, GPT, LLM |
| Exclude keywords | Never show items that contain any of these words/phrases | sponsored, advertisement |
Filters are applied to the article title and description. They are case-insensitive. Multiple keywords are separated by commas.
AI Topic Suggestions
If you're on Pro, you can click Suggest Topics on any source and Claude AI will analyze recent items from that feed and suggest relevant keywords to use as filters. This is a great way to quickly tune noisy feeds.
Search Alerts Pro
Search Alerts work like Google Alerts — enter a keyword or phrase, and Chetmail checks the web for it daily. New results appear in your regular digest.
Setting Up a Search Alert
Go to Search Alerts
Click Search Alerts in the sidebar (Pro subscribers only).
Enter a query
Type any keyword, phrase, company name, or topic. Examples: "OpenAI GPT-5", climate tech funding, your competitor's name.
Save and wait
Results are deduplicated — you'll only see new articles you haven't received before. They appear as a separate section in your daily digest.
| Plan | Max Search Alerts |
|---|---|
| Free | Not available |
| Pro Reader | Up to 10 alerts |
Feed Groups Pro
Feed Groups let you bundle multiple sources into a single combined digest with its own settings — delivery time, timezone, and shared keyword filters. Perfect for separating "work news" from "personal reading".
Creating a Feed Group
From the dashboard, click Create Group. Give the group a name, select which sources belong to it, set a delivery time (can differ from your main digest), and optionally add group-level keyword filters. Each group sends its own separate digest email.
Web Scraping Pro
Some websites don't publish an RSS feed. Web Scraping lets Chetmail visit those pages directly and extract new content using intelligent content detection.
How to enable Web Scraping for a source
Find Sources → Add Source
Paste the URL of the website you want to monitor.
Select "Web Scraping"
If Chetmail can't find an RSS feed on the site, it will offer Web Scraping as an option. Select it to proceed.
Save and monitor
Chetmail will check the page daily and extract new items, using change detection to avoid surfacing duplicate content.
AI Topic Suggestions Pro
Powered by Claude AI (Anthropic), the AI Topic Suggestions feature analyzes recent articles from any source and recommends the most relevant keywords to use as filters.
How to use
Open any source in your sources list and click the ✨ Suggest Topics button. Claude will read the last several articles and return a set of keyword suggestions. You can apply them directly as include or exclude filters with one click.
💡 Example
You're following TechCrunch but only care about AI news. Click Suggest Topics and Claude might return: artificial intelligence, machine learning, OpenAI, large language models, ChatGPT. Apply those as include keywords and your TechCrunch digest becomes an AI-only briefing.
Email Templates Pro
Pro subscribers can choose from four email digest templates. Each has a distinct visual personality. Free users always receive the Classic template.
Classic Free
Clean, text-focused layout. Simple and fast-loading. Includes banner ad slots for free users.
Modern
Card-based layout with hero images per article. Bold visual hierarchy and high-contrast design.
Editorial
Magazine-style with serif typography. Elegant, print-like feel — great for longform content.
Compact
Information-dense layout. Minimal spacing, more articles per screen, ideal for heavy readers.
To change your template: go to Email Templates in the sidebar, preview each option, and click Select. Changes take effect from the next digest.

Your Account
Email Verification
After registering, check your inbox for a verification email from Chetmail. Click the link inside to verify your address. You won't receive digests until your email is verified.
Password Reset
Forgot your password? Go to Forgot Password, enter your email, and you'll receive a reset link. The link expires after 1 hour.
Bounce Detection
If your email address bounces repeatedly (e.g. your inbox is full or the address no longer exists), Chetmail will automatically pause email delivery to protect your sender reputation. You'll see a warning in the dashboard and can reactivate delivery after resolving the issue.
Unsubscribing
Every digest email contains an unsubscribe link in the footer. Clicking it stops future email digests while keeping your account and sources intact. You can re-enable email delivery from Settings at any time.
Deleting your account
Go to Settings → Delete Account. Enter your current password to confirm. All your data (sources, digests, payment records) is permanently deleted immediately. This cannot be undone.
Telegram Bot
Chetmail has a native Telegram bot integration. Once linked, your daily digest is sent as a Telegram message at the same time as your email digest.
Linking Telegram
Go to Settings → Integrations
Find the Telegram section and click Connect Telegram.
Click the link
A unique authorization link is generated. Click it — it opens Telegram and starts a conversation with the Chetmail Bot.
Start the bot
In Telegram, click Start. Your account is now linked. Digests will be delivered to this chat.
Unlinking Telegram
Go to Settings → Integrations and click Disconnect next to the Telegram section. Your chat history in Telegram is not affected.
Receive your Chetmail digest on WhatsApp. This uses the WhatsApp Business API (powered by Twilio) to send digests as WhatsApp messages.
Setting up WhatsApp
Go to Settings → Integrations
Find the WhatsApp section and click Enable WhatsApp.
Enter your phone number
Provide your full international phone number (e.g. +1 555 123 4567).
Confirm in WhatsApp
You'll receive a WhatsApp message asking you to opt in. Reply to confirm. Digests will then be sent to that number daily.
Banner Ad Marketplace
Chetmail offers a self-serve banner ad platform. Advertisers can purchase ad slots that appear in the Classic digest emails delivered to free-tier users.
Ad Positions
| Position | Default Banner | Notes |
|---|---|---|

| Middle | Wipelist banner | Between article groups |
| Bottom | Draftto banner | Below all articles, just before footer |

Ad Visibility Rules
- Ads appear only in Classic template emails (the template used by all free users).
- Pro users using Modern, Editorial, or Compact templates never see ads.
- Telegram and WhatsApp receive default banner text+link only (no images).
Privacy & Data Handling
Chetmail is designed with a privacy-first architecture. Here's exactly what we do and don't do with your data:
| What | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| Article content | Processed ephemerally. Deleted after digest delivery. Never stored long-term. |
| "Seen" items | We store only article IDs (not content) to avoid resending. Cleaned up on a regular schedule. |
| Reading habits | We don't track which articles you open or click. |
| Payment data | Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. |
| Email delivery | Sent via AgentMail. We store your email address for authentication and delivery only. |
| Account deletion | All data is permanently erased immediately upon account deletion. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Why didn't I receive my digest today?
Check that: (1) your email is verified, (2) your delivery time has passed in your configured timezone, (3) email delivery is enabled in Settings, and (4) the digest didn't land in spam. You can also click Send Test Digest from the dashboard to force an immediate send.
Can I use Chetmail for podcasts?
Yes! Podcasts publish RSS feeds. Paste the podcast RSS URL (or the show's website URL) and Chetmail will detect the feed automatically. New episodes will appear in your digest.
Does Chetmail support private/paywalled feeds?
Chetmail fetches feeds as a standard HTTP client. If a feed requires authentication, it will fail to load. There is no current support for authenticated/paywalled feeds.
How often does Chetmail fetch my sources?
Sources are fetched once per day, timed to prepare your digest for delivery. There is no live/real-time fetching.
Can I receive multiple digests per day?
No — Chetmail sends one digest per day per configured schedule. Pro users can create multiple Feed Groups with different delivery times to effectively receive multiple themed digests per day.
Why is a source showing as "outage"?
This means Chetmail couldn't fetch the RSS feed for that source over several consecutive attempts. The source's website may be down, the feed URL may have changed, or the site may be blocking automated requests. Try re-adding the source with an updated URL, or switch to Web Scraping (Pro) if the site doesn't have RSS.
What's the difference between a source filter and a Search Alert?
A source filter filters content from a specific feed you already follow. A Search Alert proactively searches the entire web for a keyword — like Google Alerts — regardless of what sources you follow.
Do banner ads track me as a reader?
Default banners are static images with links — no tracking pixels. Paid advertiser banners may include standard link tracking depending on the destination URL, but Chetmail itself does not add tracking to banner links.
Can I cancel Pro and keep my sources?
Yes. When you downgrade to Free, your sources are preserved but you'll be limited to 3 active ones. You can choose which 3 to keep. Search Alerts, Feed Groups, and advanced features will be disabled until you re-subscribe.
Is there an API?
There is no public API at this time. All functionality is accessible through the dashboard.
